Regional Hospice and Palliative Care's Pediatric Hospice Program provides physical, emotional, and spiritual support for babies, children and families who are facing the challenge of a child's serious illness. We can accompany them on their journey from the time of the child's diagnosis, through curative treatment if available, and at the end of life.
During 2016, Regional Hospice supported $255,000 in care for our pediatric patients. That care included the following costs:
- Dedicated nursing staff, social workers and chaplains
- Weekly visits, at minimum, in the home or center
- 24/7 on call service
- $20,000 for physical, occupational and speech therapies covered by Regional Hospice.
- $80,000 in forgiveness of family deductibles that the families were unable to meet for their third-party insurance, all family co-pays while their child is on hospice and any unpaid premiums to continue their child's care.
